  • Business Ethics Society, President – Promoted active and critical study, discussion, and analysis of applied business ethics and corporate social responsibility through a speaker series and annual case competition.
  • Latino Student Network, President – Promoted and fostered a university-wide Latinx community for those interested in business.
  • Jewish Education Initiative, President – Promoted and facilitated Jewish education through University wide events
  • Madison House Volunteer Program, Program Director – Coordinated roughly 40 volunteers with Daycare community partner.
  • Alpha Chi Omega, Chapter Relations and Standards Board Representative – Assessed risk and enforce bylaws to mitigate damages and assess disciplinary actions

Describe your dream Job: Ideally, I would love to be in-house counsel at a large international technology firm, focusing on creating innovative policies for new, ground breaking products.

Which executive or entrepreneur do you most admire? Bill Gates as he always believed in himself and followed his dreams.

What did you enjoy most about majoring in a business-related field? I really enjoyed the opportunity to combine strategic thinking with analytical frameworks.

What is the biggest lesson you gained from studying business? Stakeholders matter.

Where would you like to work after graduation? I plan on attending Law School!

What are your long-term professional goals? My long-term professional goal is to be a corporate lawyer for a large multinational technology company.

What advice would you give to a student looking to major in a business-related field? Don’t let the numbers scare you.

“I knew I wanted to major in business when…my mom told me she wouldn’t pay for an undergraduate degree in history.”

“If I didn’t major in business, I would be…a history and political philosophy major.”

“Before I entered business school, I wish I had known…that a positive attitude and some good music can turn project all-nighters into a great bonding experience.”

What was the happiest moment of your life? Playing a saxophone solo in Carnegie Hall.

Which academic, extracurricular or personal achievement are you most proud of? I am most proud of my efforts in fostering the Latino/Hispanic business community at UVA.

What animal would you choose to represent your professional brand? Owl, nature’s intellectual predator.

Who would you most want to thank for your success? My parents for their unwavering support as I pursue my dreams.

What made Samantha such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2017?

“Samantha is an outstanding member of this, or any other class year. Her varied achievements during her time here at the McIntire School of Commerce place her at the pinnacle of student success. Not only has her academic performance been exceptional here at the Commerce School, coming from the College of Arts and Sciences, she is enrolled in an honors program consisting of the top 8.5% of all students. Samantha is also a “Lawn Resident” representing one of only 55 four-years across the entire University of Virginia recognized for selfless-service to our community at-large along with excellent co-curricular achievements. Samantha has worked for two world-class organizations (KPMG and Navigant), traveled to 17 different countries, served as President for our Latino Student Network as well as the Jewish Education Initiative at UVa. In addition, she is a Peer Mentor/Tutor, member of our Business Ethics Society, and Program Director for Madison House, UVa’s most important volunteer organization and a Teaching Assistant for our Introduction to Business course. While completing her Commerce degree, Samantha is also completing a degree in Political Philosophy, Policy and Law, and is continuing on to Law school after graduation. Samantha also happens to be a fantastic person, who has a very bright future ahead of her; all of us at the Commerce School give her our highest and most enthusiastically recommendation.”
