PitchBook also parsed the data focusing on women founders. For the top two schools, the results were the same. Stanford topped the list of women founders with a founder count of 208 and 197 companies. UC Berkeley followed with 156 women launching 156 companies. Harvard follows closely with 152 wounders launching 146 companies. The University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University round out the top-five for women founders, respectively.

Women founders have launched many successful and impactful businesses like solar company SunRun, education technology platform Guild Education and retail brands that have upended the consumer products market like Rent the Runway and Dia&Co.
