Who is your favorite business professor?  Dr. Grant Farnsworth. Dr. Farnsworth challenged me to develop my critical thinking skills to come up with solutions to problems that didn’t always have an answer.

What is the biggest lesson you gained from studying business? In hindsight, I’ve realized that my greatest failures have led me to my greatest successes. It is important to capitalize on failures by seeing them as an opportunity to improve.

What advice would you give to a student looking to major in a business-related field? The most important lessons are learned outside of the classroom. Learning what you don’t like is just as, if not more, important than learning what you do like.

What has surprised you most about majoring in business? I was surprised at (and grateful for) how willing seemingly random strangers are to offer guidance and support for college students. I attribute much of my success to the guidance offered by my mentors.

Looking back over your experience, what is the one thing you’d do differently in business school and why? Early on, I often underestimated myself and discounted my capabilities. I wish I didn’t do that.

Which academic, extracurricular or personal achievement are you most proud of? I’m most proud of the friendships I’ve made at TCU.

Which classmate do you most admire? Kenner Sernel. Kenner is one of my closest friends and I admire his intelligence almost as much as his integrity. Kenner always challenges himself to be the best version of himself he can be, which is especially sweet when you’re able to beat him in Settlers of Catan or Pickleball. Trust me, I would know.

Who would you most want to thank for your success? I’d thank my childhood swim coach Kyle Tilley for inspiring me to always have a positive attitude.

What are the top two items on your professional bucket list?

  • Start a company
  • Sell that company
