2022 In Review: Poets&Quants’ 10 Most-Read Undergrad Stories Of The Year

2022 Best & Brightest Business Majors

4. 100 Best & Brightest Business Majors Of 2022

We’ve recognized the “Best and Brightest” business majors since 2016, and the list is always one of our most popular reads.

To identify the 100 students on the list, we invite the top-50 schools in our annual undergraduate business school ranking to submit two graduating students that fit their definition of “Best & Brightest.”

This year’s list included 58 women, 42 men and 10 students hailing from nations outside the United States, including Ghana, Egypt, Portugal, Bulgaria, Nepal, and China. They are an eclectic group of young stars from elite athletes to social activists to military veterans to startup founders.

“Professors never stop being students. Every day, their learners teach them something new. Their experiences lend fresh takes on old truths — and their questions expose what’s taken for granted, ” wrote Poets&Quants senior writer Jeff Schmitt last March. “In business school, students are often more than pupils who are guided and graded. Sometimes, they become protégés who contribute alongside their professors.”

3. Wharton Tops U.S. News’ 2023 Undergrad B-School Ranking

Our third most read story of 2022 is our analysis of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Undergraduate Business Programs of 2023 ranking released in September.

The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School is the No. 1 program in the country, according to U.S. News, just as it was in last year’s ranking and the year before that and the year before that. In fact, Wharton has topped U.S. News’ ranking for most of the last decade. (It’s also topped P&Q’s proprietary ranking for five straight years. More on that later.)

2. 10 Undergraduate Business Schools To Watch In 2022

One of our most popular annual stories continues to be our list of the 10 undergraduate schools to watch. Poets&Quants pours through school and alumni surveys of our undergraduate rankings to identify data trends and innovations at business schools around the country.

We consider thousands of data points through the lens of two questions: What does a business school do that’s different? How have they perfected a recipe that other programs still struggle to implement?

1. Wharton Again Tops Poets&Quants’ Best Undergraduate Business School Rankings

It’s not much of a surprise what story business school students clicked on most frequently in 2022. It’s virtually the same as 2021: P&Q’s ranking for the best undergraduate b-schools.

For the fifth straight year, Wharton School topped our annual ranking, and each year since we’ve published the inaugural ranking in 2016, it’s been our most-viewed story of the year.

Why so popular? Well, besides the U.S. News’ ranking, there’s really no other major ranking of undergraduate business schools. Ours also has the biggest trove of proprietary data focused on undergraduate business schools anywhere. In fact, several of our most-read stories this year were stories analyzing this data trove.
