Consultant Bio
A teacher, coach, and guide at heart, Sam has mentored students and clients in many different fields and settings. After graduating from Brown with a degree in economics, Sam worked briefly as a freediving instructor. He then took his teaching skills to an academic setting, coaching students to top scores on the ACT, SAT, GRE and GMAT. Today, he not only helps clients get accepted at top universities, but also works as a holistic therapist and AuthenticRelating workshop facilitator. In these roles, Sam is motivated by his passion for helping people connect more deeply both with themselves and with others.
Sam loves to learn about other cultures and is quite the globetrotter. A Swiss, American, and CostaRican citizen, he has lived on four continents and is fluent in four languages. During his time at Brown, he spent a semester abroad in Ghana, where he studied international development and learned African drumming. Today you can find him in Costa Rica, exploring new hiking trails, doing road trips along the coast, practicing acroyoga and going to contact improv dance jams.
Sam’s multicultural background makes him an excellent fit for international applicants who want to showcase the contribution they can make to a school’s diversity. He’s passionate about gaining an in-depth understanding of students’ backgrounds and true motivations, which allows him to help them shape their stories convincingly and put forward the best version of themselves.
