TENNESSEE HASLAM DECREASES ACCEPTANCE RATE BY 34 POINTS
University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business (ranked No. 35 overall) had the biggest decrease in acceptance rates at our ranked schools, dropping 34.33 points. The school, which ranked 35th overall in our ranking, went from admitting 73.33% of applicants in the 22-23 academic year to accepting just 39% in its latest cycle.
Haslam admitted 5,148 students out of 13,194 applicants, ultimately enrolling 1,946 this fall.
The next biggest drop, 20.33 points, was reported at University of Texas at Arlington (No. 90) where acceptance rates went from 82.13% last cycle to 61.8% in the latest. Hofstra University Zarb School of Business had the third highest drop at 15.31 points, falling from 86.31% of applicants accepted to 71% this year.
Fifty schools reported that their acceptance rates decrease this cycle meaning it was harder for applicants to get in. On the other hand, 41 saw their rates increase, making it easier. In comparison, just 29 saw their acceptance rate increase between 2021 and 2022 while 58 saw their rate drop.
Schools with the highest increases in acceptance rate tend to rank, perhaps not surprisingly, at the lower end of our 2024 list. These include University of Utah David Eccles School of Business (ranked 84th overall) which reported a 19.23 point rise from 73.77% in the fall 2022 cycle to 93% this cycle. Marian University of Indianapolis Byrum School of Business (No. 60) reported a 16.86 point rice in acceptance rate, American University Kogod School of Business (No. 80) reported a 11.66 point rise, and University of North Carolina-Wilmington Cameron School of Business (No. 76) reported an increase of 10.91.
The table below shows the year-over-year changes in acceptance rates for all 91 schools in our 2024 ranking, starting with the biggest drops.
