Who is your favorite business professor? Dr. Joel Davis was my professor for QMB3302 – Foundations of Business Analytics & AI. He is a genuine and caring person who ensures that all students have an opportunity to score highly in the class, despite it being fully remote. In his pre-recorded lectures, he introduces how to code in Python and explains each step in great detail. He invites all students to attend office hours, whether they need help or want to say hi – and he is very enthusiastic about teaching. Dr. Davis’ charisma and passion are the reason he is my favorite business professor.
What is the biggest lesson you gained from studying business? Say yes to everything – you never know where it will take you.
What advice would you give to a student looking to major in a business-related field? Find experiential learning opportunities where you can apply what you learn in class. Whether they are student organizations, volunteer experiences, jobs, or projects, you are bound to learn and grow while helping others do the same. However, also ensure that these experiences genuinely interest you so you stay excited to continue.
Looking back over your experience, what is the one thing you’d do differently in business school and why? I would have given myself more breaks. I juggled various responsibilities, and while exciting, it led to exhaustion. Taking a few minutes on those stressful days to close my eyes and clear my mind ultimately helped me feel refreshed, but it was something I wish I started doing earlier in college.
What is one way that your business school has integrated AI into your programming? What is one insight you gained from using AI? Warrington is partnered with VMock to provide AI-powered feedback and recommendations to student resumes. In Warrington Welcome, a course to introduce first-year business students to the school, students learn about and create their resumes. Students then upload their resumes to VMock to receive their grade and personalized feedback, which saves Peer Leaders time from doing so manually.
Which academic, extracurricular or personal achievement are you most proud of? I am most proud of my involvement with the expansion of Gator Ready, a program hosted on the Suitable app. Gator Ready professionally develops students by exposing them to events and activities that can help them grow in a variety of competencies, or skills. As an avid user of the app, when I saw an opportunity to become an ambassador in October 2023, I instantly applied.
I was one of the first two ambassadors that were onboarded, so I played a significant role in shaping the structure of the ambassador program, including how we presented, recruited new ambassadors, and divided the team into committees. Through my work, Gator Ready’s reach has grown across the business school. The team has since expanded to 14, and I am happy to have been a part of it.
Which classmate do you most admire? I admire Keegan Christensen, a senior Management major and someone I work with closely in Warrington Welcome. Last year, he was the Director of Professional Development, responsible for putting on the Professional Development Summit at the end of each academic year. The summit is an optional day-long event for first-year business students to grow their professional skills and receive advice from both upperclassmen students and seasoned professionals. With roughly 200 student attendees and sponsors like Deloitte and Aldi, this event was very successful.
This year, as the Executive Director, Keegan works closely with the rest of the Council to manage the Warrington Welcome program. He always makes sure that everyone feels supported and has the resources available to succeed in their roles. He and I are very close and often share laughs, deep conversations, and advice with each other. Keegan is selfless, caring, and driven, and both who he is and what he has done are inspiring.
Who would you most want to thank for your success? I attribute my success to the support of my girlfriend, Tiffany Ong, a Pre-Law Business Administration major. She is always by my side to celebrate my accomplishments and motivate me through challenging times. When I took Business Law, she helped me understand advanced concepts while I studied for my exams. When I was quite ill, she spent time with me to comfort and provide me with food and medicine. Tiffany helps me remain productive, ensure my work is high-quality, and make the right decisions. I could not have achieved everything I have done without her support.
What are the top two items on your professional bucket list? At the moment, the number one item on my professional bucket list is to determine the career path that is right for me This is often a difficult step, but I am fortunate to be entering a rotational program with a company that offers endless opportunities for virtually any career path. I hope to come out the other side in a role that I am passionate about and eager to grow from. The next item on my list is to continue to explore career paths and enjoy a variety of roles throughout my working life. This will allow me to continuously learn, apply skills, and avoid monotony. Together, these goals will take me on a prosperous and exciting career journey.
What made Domenic such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2025?
“Domenic is one of those rare students that has taken advantage of many professional development opportunities offered by the college. When I see him, I ask, “which leadership hat are you wearing today?” He has not only been an active consumer of our programs and opportunities, but he also plays an important leadership role in many of his organizations.
He has been such an important part of our experiential learning programs. He is always there to work hard, improve the student experience, offer critical evaluation and feedback, and support the Warrington College of Business. We have enjoyed working with Domenic, and we look forward to continuing to work with him as an alum.”
