Texas A&M Mays Expands With Their New Wayne Roberts ’85 Building
Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School just opened their newly constructed 81,400-square-foot Wayne Roberts ’85 Building, designed to offer inviting spaces for Mays students, faculty, staff.
Inside are glass-walled studios and classrooms, which are now buzzing with innovative teaching and high-tech tools – all intentionally designed to inspire the next generation of business leaders.
Their new Wayne Roberts ’85 Building is an addition to their Mays Business Education Complex and sits in front of their longtime E.L. Wehner Building.
“We designed the Roberts Building to facilitate the learning of the future, and to provide our students, faculty, former students, and corporate partners meaningful ways to connect with and learn from each other, while staying grounded in the Aggie Spirit and the Aggie Core Values,” says Mays Business School Dean, Nate Y. Sharp.
‘FACILITATING LEARNING OF THE FUTURE’
Wayne Roberts ’85, the retired president and CEO of Abrigo and the lead donor for the new building, says he is thrilled to give back to Mays Business School in a big way. “I was inspired to give back to the Mays Business School by the vision to become the preeminent public business school in the nation,” said Roberts. “This new building is yet another step in that journey, and we are well on our way to achieving this bold vision.”
The complex is set to expand again in the near future, as the Mays Family Foundation has generously contributed another $25 million to fund a second new building dedicated to the school’s graduate programs. This next new addition is currently in the design phase.
“The opening of the Roberts Building marks the start of an important new chapter in our history at Mays Business School,” said Sharp. “Since our school’s earliest days in the 1960s, we have had an uncompromising commitment to excellence. Now with the opening of the Roberts Building, we are embracing new opportunities and exciting possibilities that will position Mays Business School as the preeminent public business school in the nation.”
