Insider Tips for Applying to Michigan Ross (And Other Schools)
Whether or not you’re applying to Michigan Ross this fall, if you’re a prospective undergrad, you’ve come to the right place. Blaire Moody Rideout, Director of Undergrad Admissions for Michigan Ross, recently shared her pro tips for undergrads applying to Michigan Ross. Here are three of her six tips.
1) Take the initiative to contact the University yourself with any questions as opposed to your parents. She says this is the start of a new student’s role as a capable, confident and independent person.
“It can be brave to navigate a complex application or university system, but it is also a very important experience for you to gain before you arrive on a college campus,” says Rideout.
2) When writing the “Why Michigan Ross?” application essay, Rideout urges applicants to consider giving an authentic answer that is focused on them and their own motivations for coming to Michigan Ross.
Steer clear of an essay that focuses on coming to the school based on what someone else in the family wants for you, like your parents or cousin.
“Remember, you are the one completing this degree, not anyone else, so you need to show that you have thought through your why,” she advises.
This is in line with one of Fortune’s top pieces of advice for getting into Harvard Business School’s MBA.
3) Last. but not least, Rideout suggests prospective students submit their application by their November 1st “Early Action” deadline. MBA.com also recommends undergrads should be strategic about the timing for submitting their applications.
“We build the majority of our class with Early Action applicants,” she shares.
Also, this means students should hear back from the school by late January, and financial aid and scholarships can start processing sooner.
