Robins School Of Business Dean To Step Down After 7 Years

The University of Richmond just announced that Miguel “Mickey” Quiñones, dean of the Robins School of Business, will step down at the end of the 2025–26 academic year after seven years in his position.

Quiñones, who became dean in 2019, will remain on the faculty as a professor of management following a sabbatical.

Looking back, when Quiñones first took office, the Robins School ranked No. 26 in 2020 in Poets&Quants’s Best Undergraduate Business Schools. A year later, Robins climbed to No. 23. Over the next few years, Robins ranked No. 20 in 2022, No. 18 in 2023, No. 18 again in 2024, and finally their highest position yet, at No. 17 in 2025.

HIGHLIGHTS OF QUIÑONES’S DEANSHIP

Under Quiñones’s leadership, the Robins School launched the Robins Endeavor living‑learning community, the Spider Business Hub, and innovative courses like Bench Top Innovations and the Digital Marketing Practicum. These initiatives gave students hands-on opportunities to tackle real‑world business challenges and put classroom theory into practice.

Quiñones also introduced new programs like the school’s Master of Science in Management, expanded entrepreneurship and professional sales offerings, and strengthened global engagement through the International Partner Immersion Program.

Quiñones’s impact continued into the establishment of the Department of Analytics and Operations, which ensured Richmond students graduate with fluency in data‑driven decision‑making and technology‑focused education.

All-in-all, his efforts earned the Robins School recognition in our Poets&Quants 10 Undergraduate Business Schools to Watch list last year, and as the University of Richmond prepares for a search to find its next dean, Quiñones will step away leaving a impressive legacy for his successor to build upon.
