Fairfield’s New Artificial Intelligence And Technology Institute
Technology moves fast, but at Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business, students are leading the charge. With the launch of their new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology Institute, they’ve created a hub for cutting-edge AI research with the goal of ensuring that AI is not just powerful, but purposeful – driving innovation that serves industries and communities for the greater good.
‘AI FOR THE GREATER GOOD’
The launch event wasn’t your average academic panel. Nobel laureate economist Myron Scholes, PhD joined virtually, sharing insights on AI’s ability to make things “faster, more individualized, and more flexible, and thereby benefit myriad industries,” shares Philip Maymin, Director of the Business Analytics program. Also, as part of the event, five students showcased AI-generated short films showing that tech and creativity aren’t just compatible, but inseparable.
“The AI and Technology Institute is born from Fairfield’s core Jesuit values – a commitment to serving humanity,” said Jie Tao, PhD, director of the AI and Tech Institute. “Our focus is firmly on ‘AI for the greater good,’ leveraging cutting-edge AI research and expertise to empower our local communities and businesses.”
Fairfield students are in the perfect spot geographically, surrounded by top businesses, emerging tech leaders, and just a train ride from NYC. They’ll have plenty of opportunities to collaborate with industry innovators, hear from influential speakers, and dive into real AI challenges at the Institute moving forward.
