Elon University’s Love School Introduces New Faculty

Recently in North Carolina, eleven new teachers have joined the Elon University’s Love School Of Business this fall.

This is quite the jump for a business school who had 59 faculty members and now is a large group of 70.

Why did they bring on more faculty members? We could speculate that it’s due to their growth and an increase in students, with an effort to uphold small classroom sizes with low teacher-to-student ratios.

The new faculty specialize in teaching various subjects, from Business Analytics, to Finance, Accounting, and Economics. Some may have been brought on to support their newest major in FinTech.

HOW ARE THE NEW PROFESSORS ADAPTING?

“Although new to Elon, I have been quite impressed from the first day I started by the culture of collaboration and friendly willingness of everyone I have encountered to help,” says Larry Burke, assistant professor of accounting. “In addition, the theme of focusing on the student experience is something I heard consistently prior to starting. I can now attest that it strongly influences the approach to how we engage our students in the classroom, which I believe yields strong benefits because of their active participation in learning.”

Assistant Professor of Finance Feng Dong says, “There are two things I really appreciate about Elon so far. First, the collaborative atmosphere at LSB—everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive. Second, the strong focus on helping new faculty succeed, with excellent training, mentoring, and support for both teaching and research.”

This year, the Love School of Business landed in No. 40 in P&Q’s rankings, and their acceptance rate dropped to a more exclusive 67.30% for their most recent incoming class in contrast to 74.22% for the previous year’s incoming class. They also boast extremely strong career outcomes, with 100% of the Class of 2023 landing an internship before graduation and 97.5% of their graduates landing a full-time position within three months of graduation.
