Vote For Trump? Trends Among Students Like You

Some can’t live with him, and some can’t live without him.

Following president-elect Donald Trump’s re-election, Intelligent.com gathered the thoughts of 600 college grads not only who they voted for but what sources they used to gather information on their favorite candidate.

One key finding revealed that Trump-voting students were twice as likely to get their news from podcasts compared to Kamala Harris voters. Specifically, 34% of Trump voters relied on podcasts, versus 17% of Harris voters.

What were the voting trends in general? It turns out that 78% of college students surveyed by Intellilgent.com voted this year. Among those who did, 58% voted for Kamala Harris and 40% voted for Trump. The final 2% voted for a third-party candidate.

NEWS FROM TIKTOK AND X

When it comes to gathering more instant news from X (formerly Twitter), that’s more evenly matched, with 46% of Trump voters using the site as compared to 43% of Harris voters.

Many also use TikTok as a means to gather news, and it’s more Harris voters than Trump voters – 63% compared to 55%.

What were the overall feelings regarding Harris? Well 28% of college student voters thought Harris is highly or somewhat unqualified. In terms of gender differences, more male college students thought Harris was unqualified than female college students – 36% compared to 23%. In terms of gender, when students were asked if they agreed with the statement, “A woman is not capable of performing the duties of the president of the U.S.,” a good 9% of student voters strongly agreed, and another 9% somewhat agreed – nearly one fifth of student voters.
