COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM
The Lacy School of Business offers a robust curriculum that integrates experiential learning from the outset. Students can pursue majors in Accounting, Business Technology and Analytics, Economics, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, International Business, Marketing, Risk Management and Insurance, and Supply Chain. This diverse array of programs ensures that students can tailor their education to align with their career aspirations.
A hallmark of the Lacy School’s approach is its emphasis on practical experience. The curriculum includes two business experience courses, two internship courses, and an experiential career development course, ensuring students engage in solving complex, real-world problems throughout their academic journey. Elective courses further enhance this experiential focus; for example, the student-managed investment fund has outperformed the Board of Trustees’ investment advisor’s returns. Additionally, extracurricular opportunities such as operating student-run businesses—a coffee shop and a thrift shop—participating in business treks to cities like Wall Street, Chicago, and Detroit, and engaging in global business experiences enrich the student experience.
CURRICULUM ENHANCEMENTS
In response to evolving industry demands, the Lacy School has introduced several innovative changes in the past three years including adding a new major in Supply Chain with concentrations in analytics and operations to address the growing need for professionals skilled in these areas.
The school is also adding an International Business degree, set to launch in 2027. It will follow the Minerva model, incorporating rotations through several global locations to provide students with a comprehensive international perspective.
The Lacy curriculum has been designed to layer experiential learning across various courses. For instance, students in the Real Business Experience course develop, source, and market a product within a semester, collaborating with peers from risk management, supply chain, and e-commerce courses. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to gain meaningful, hands-on experiences. Additionally, Real Business Experience students work with the Innovation Lab and the Central Indiana Small Business Development Corporation housed within the school, further bridging academic concepts with practical application.
