Harvard Business Impact is rolling out a new lineup of course materials aimed at teaching undergraduates the soft skills employers keep saying they can’t find.
The platform, part of Harvard Business Publishing, an affiliate of Harvard Business School which works with more than 4,000 higher-ed institutions in 75 countries, unveiled Essential Skill Suites today (August 6). It is a set of practice-based modules covering three areas: navigating change and uncertainty, collaborating productively, and thinking and acting with integrity.
Each suite bundles AI-powered courses built with CodeSignal alongside HBI’s existing Quick Cases and simulations.
AN ‘OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE & HONE’
“Today’s graduates want to leave college confident in their future readiness, knowing they can collaborate with others, navigate uncertainty, and make sound decisions. That’s exactly what employers are looking for, too,” says Nicole Harris, senior director for strategic planning and growth initiatives at Harvard Business Impact.
“That’s why we’re launching our Essential Skill Suites: to help educators and higher ed institutions give students the opportunity to practice and hone the very skills that’ll help them succeed – in school, in their careers, and in life.”
The pitch is that students learn these skills by doing them, not by reading about them. The materials go live this month, timed for professors building fall syllabi. More skill suites are planned down the road, according to the announcement.
