LinkedIn has crowned its top schools for business majors, entrepreneurs, and future CEOs – and the three lists barely overlap.
The rankings arrive as part of LinkedIn’s 2026 Top Colleges, a member-data-driven read on which U.S. schools best position graduates for long-term career success. Princeton University holds the No. 1 spot on the overall list for the second straight year, with Duke University at No. 2 and Harvard University climbing to No. 3; MIT, Dartmouth College, Penn, Notre Dame, Cornell, Yale, and Stanford round out the overall top 10.
But the more revealing data for business education sits in the specialty rankings LinkedIn released alongside that overall list, breaking out the schools that lead specifically on business majors, entrepreneurship, and C-suite production.

TOP SCHOOLS FOR BUSINESS MAJORS IN 2026
This is LinkedIn’s first year breaking out a dedicated ranking for business majors, built by measuring career outcomes for alumni who studied business, management, marketing, and related fields – specifically how quickly they land jobs, how far they advance into senior leadership, and how often they go on to start their own companies. LinkedIn frames the ranking as evidence that a bachelor’s in business remains a viable alternative to an MBA, offering graduates versatility across sectors like financial services, professional services, and manufacturing in a tighter hiring market.
Penn leads, unsurprising given the Wharton School’s undergraduate business program. Washington and Lee is the notable runner-up, and Virginia lands at No. 5 partly on the strength of a program that lets current undergraduates secure early admission into UVA’s MBA. The list leans heavily toward schools with dedicated undergraduate business programs and East Coast private institutions with deep employer ties in finance and consulting.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP: BABSON HOLDS THE TOP SPOT
Babson, a business-focused school that lands at No. 13 on LinkedIn’s overall Top 50, tops the entrepreneurship-specific ranking outright. That’s no surprise: Babson requires every first-year student to take a yearlong course in which they build and operate an actual venture – a structure LinkedIn credits for the school’s outsized showing. MIT, offering more than 150 innovation and entrepreneurship courses, ranks second, and Stanford ranks third, benefiting from its proximity to Silicon Valley and a long history of startup activity among its alumni.

SCHOOLS THAT PRODUCE THE MOST CEOs
Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford produce the largest concentrations of alumni who go on to become CEOs at companies with more than 1,000 employees, according to LinkedIn’s data. Dartmouth, Duke, MIT, Penn, and Yale follow – a group of schools with well-worn pipelines into finance, consulting, and tech, industries where leadership tracks tend to be clearly mapped out.
Georgetown also places in the top 10, which LinkedIn attributes in part to its Washington, D.C. location and the school’s long history of producing leaders in policy and diplomacy alongside business.

STRONGEST ALUMNI NETWORKS: BABSON CRACKS THE TOP 3
LinkedIn’s alumni-network ranking measures how connected graduates are to one another and to current students. Washington and Lee, with roughly 1,900 undergraduates, takes the top spot despite its small size, while Dartmouth ranks second and Babson third. LinkedIn points to structured programs at both schools: Dartmouth’s Center for Career Design pairs first-year students with alumni for professional networking, while Babson Connect Worldwide convenes its entrepreneurial alumni community annually.

A DIFFERENT PICTURE ON JOB PLACEMENT
LinkedIn’s ranking of schools with the highest share of graduates who land a job or start a graduate program within a year of finishing school tells a different story than the business-focused lists above. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, a small Indiana STEM school, holds the No. 1 spot for the second year running; LinkedIn notes the school has kept a 95%-to-99% placement rate for more than two decades. Notre Dame ranks second and Caltech third, with Harvey Mudd (of Claremont, California) and Princeton close behind.
Bucknell and Washington and Lee, both strong performers on the business-focused lists above, also crack this top 10 at Nos. 7 and 8.

INTERNSHIPS FOLLOW A SIMILAR PATTERN
LinkedIn also ranks schools with the highest share of graduates who completed an internship. Caltech takes the top spot this year, up from No. 2 in 2025, helped by a campus career center that offers students mock interviews and salary-negotiation coaching starting early in their academic careers. MIT ranks second and Carnegie Mellon fourth, both drawing on long-standing employer relationships across tech and engineering.
The outlier is Wellesley, which funds internships for more than 250 students worldwide each summer, at No. 3.
