The New Golden Perk For Employees: Working Remotely

Joerg Niessing Named The Outstanding Case Teacher 2025

This year, highly esteemed INSEAD Marketing Professor Joerg Niessing has been awarded the prestigious title of Outstanding Case Teacher 2025 by The Case Centre. This award recognizes him as a top tier educator.

Niessing has been a trailblazer at INSEAD for over twelve years, infusing his case studies with real-world insights that bring them to life. He has earned several awards from the Case Centre over the years, including Marketing Category Winner in 2018 for his compelling “Who’s #1” case and again in 2022 for his innovative “Waterdrop®” case. Moreover, Joerg was celebrated as the Bestselling Case Author in 2020/21, ranking number 6, and the Highest New Entry in 2019/2020, ranking number 16.

‘PUSHING BOUNDARIES OF EDUCATION’

Niessing’s cases are all about in-depth interviews with top executives, and last year, Niessing pushed the boundaries of education further by introducing his first virtual reality case. He crafted a VR experience for students that replicates life-like business environments, where they face business challenges, make strategic decisions, and see the immediate impact of their choices.

Beyond the classroom, Niessing is a passionate advocate for expanding case-based learning across INSEAD’s executive education programs. He often mentors new educators, leads faculty workshops, and shares best practices in case teaching.

Vicky Lester, Chief Executive Officer of The Case Centre and chair of the judging panel, praised Joerg’s remarkable ability to engage students using diverse and tailored methods. “Joerg has a natural ability to captivate students, integrating new trends and technologies with ease, and his humor is a delightful addition,” she says. “His use of AI and virtual reality, in particular, showcases his adaptability and willingness to evolve, reflecting the wider societal context.”

In accepting the award, Joerg expressed his gratitude, saying, “Winning this award is a tremendous honor and a deeply meaningful recognition of my passion and commitment to case teaching. Teaching with cases has always been about more than just sharing knowledge. It’s about empowering students to think critically, embrace ambiguity, and lead with confidence.”
