Inside The New ‘Summer At Babson’

Babson College just announced an exciting new chapter in its summer program options.

The school’s new Summer at Babson initiative is for high school students, undergrads, educators, and athletes alike. It’s all about giving these students the entrepreneurial experiences and building career readiness skills that colleges value in a candidate. Summer students get to experience newly developed coursework, career development training, networking, and engage with the community.

“Summer at Babson reflects our commitment to lifelong learning and meeting learners where they are,” says President of the Babson College, Stephen Spinelli Jr., a Babson alum from the Class of 1992. “These programs give students the opportunity to explore ideas, take action, and build real‑world skills – whether they’re considering college, launching a venture, or preparing for what’s next in their careers,” he continues.

A FOCUS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP & CAREER READINESS

Summer programs are proven to be incredibly beneficial and give students the skills and experiences that colleges are looking for in a candidate.

Linda Darling‑Hammond from the Learning Policy Institute says that high‑quality summer programs significantly boost students’ academic achievement, school engagement, and social‑behavioral development. Especially the programs built on active, skill‑focused learning with well‑trained leaders – like this one.

All in all, these types of programs also help students stay ahead of the curve and increase their chances of landing their desired jobs in today’s tightening job market.

At the center of Babson’s new program is the Entrepreneurial Thought & Action® (ET&A®) framework, which is all about learning by experimenting, building, and taking action in a smart way.

Instead of spending summer in passive lectures, students are actively working through the challenges that employers are facing today. They will explore what entrepreneurship really feels like.

The pre‑college offerings in the initiative are quite abundant with more than 50 immersive courses taught by Babson faculty and industry pros.

Rising juniors and seniors can choose to participate in-person, hybrid, or online – whatever fits their summer rhythm best. Each completed course also comes with a digital Babson credential students can showcase.
