Where have you interned during your college career? Massachusetts Small Business Development Center, Business Consultant Intern (Springfield, MA)
Where will you be working after graduation? I work at Atominvest as an Analyst based in Providence RI.
Who is your favorite business professor? My favorite business professor is Ali Shirzadeh because of his dedication to his students and teaching assistants. He makes sure that each student fully understands the material and goes the extra mile to follow up with everyone after class. Coming from the perspective of a student and teaching assistant, I can see how intentional he is with his lectures.
What is the biggest lesson you gained from studying business? Revenue goes up, profit goes up.
What advice would you give to a student looking to major in a business-related field? Go to as many events offered at your business school or university as you possibly can. You never know the doors that may open for you.
Looking back over your experience, what is the one thing you’d do differently in business school and why? Graduate on time and take the time to explore all the opportunities offered. Most programs offered by clubs and companies are on a 4-year track. I’d want to take full advantage of internships and club activities if I were to do it all over again.
What is one way that your business school has integrated AI into your programming? What is one insight you gained from using AI? Isenberg started teaching specialized courses in AI, especially within my department. I personally took a course that introduced the topic at a high level without going into complex topics. AI reduces time spent on schoolwork dramatically whether you use it for studying, summarizing, or cheating.
Which academic, extracurricular or personal achievement are you most proud of? I’m proud that I kept in contact with my high school friends. Loyalty is one of my core values and maintaining my relationships is a way of living that out.
Which classmate do you most admire? Mason Choi, my roommate in college. He’s one of the hardest-working people I know. There have been countless nights where we’ve pulled all-nighters to study for exams. He was able to complete a dual degree in 2 years’ time and is someone that I want to thrive to be like.
Who would you most want to thank for your success? Allen Kronick, my mentor, is directly responsible for my success. In just about a year, I felt like I’ve absorbed so much knowledge. Since he was a former director at a big company, I was able to get front row seats to what a seasoned professional looked like and behaved. I grew quickly by listening and asking questions. His stories made complex topics feel clear and easy to understand. Thank you, Allen.
What are the top two items on your professional bucket list? The number one thing I want to do is to build something from zero to something meaningful that solves problems and creates value. I also want to become a someone who can make time no matter how busy life gets.
What made Nick such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2026?
“I have had the privilege of working closely with Nick Wang over multiple semesters—as a student in OIM 452: Business Processes and Enterprise Systems and OIM 451: Information and Project Management, and later as my Teaching Assistant for OIM 451. Across all these experiences, Nick has consistently demonstrated exceptional academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and professionalism. As a Teaching Assistant, he approached grading, course preparation, and student support with precision, organization, and genuine care, elevating the learning experience for the entire class. His reliability, attention to detail, and dedication to helping others stand out even among high-performing students. Beyond the classroom, Nick exemplifies leadership, character, and impact. He serves as President of the Isenberg Consulting Academy, mentoring peers and fostering a collaborative culture. He applies his analytical skills to support local businesses as a Business Consultant Intern for the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center and contributes to mission-driven organizations as an Analyst for 180 Degrees Consulting. Additionally, his service as a note[1]taker for UMass Disability Services demonstrates his commitment to equity and accessibility. Nick’s combination of academic excellence, leadership, service, and strong character makes him an exceptional student with outstanding potential and a lasting positive impact on the Isenberg community.”
