2026 Best Business Schools | Total Cost & Scholarships At P&Q’s Ranked Business Schools

In Poets&Quants’ annual ranking of the best undergraduate business programs, we gather cost data that isn’t factored into the methodology. Price is one of the most consequential variables in a business school decision, even if many students don’t pay the actual sticker price thanks to scholarships and grants.

Tuition, fees, scholarships and other cost of attendance estimates provide useful context for students and families evaluating prospective business degrees. So, we are sharing it here.

Looking at tuition and fees alone, earning a business degree from a ranked program now costs more than $200,000 at 49 U.S. business programs (out of 110 we ranked for 2026). That compares to 44 schools from our 2025 ranking (out of 104 ranked programs) and just 32 schools for our 2024 ranking (out of 91). Tuition and fees reported are based on the rate for the 2025-2026 academic year, multiplied by four to get to an estimated total cost of the degree.

Tuition for a four-year undergraduate business degree surpassed $300,000 for in-state students at two schools this cycle: Bucknell University’s Freeman College of Management (ranked No. 38 overall) and University of Southern California Marshall School of Business (No. 5). That’s before housing, food, books, transportation or any of the extra expenses of attending college.

BEST VALUE BUSINESS SCHOOLS RANKED BY P&Q

For the best value business degree, students should look closely at their in-state, public universities. Tuition for in-state students is often magnitudes cheaper than for out-of-state students at schools that offer such discounts.

Take University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business which ranked No. 14 in our 2026 ranking. While non-resident students will pay $274,768 in tuition/fees over four years, students who have Michigan residency will pay just $85,964.

In fact, 46 public universities in our 2025 ranking (out of 110 total) offer significant savings for in-state students over four years. Savings range from $10,656 for California students attending San Jose State University (Lucas) to $188,804 for Michigan students at UM Ross.

There are also several other highly ranked universities who offer in-state cost breaks. These include University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce (ranked No. 2 overall) which costs an estimated $104,698 over four years for Virginia residents compared to $265,214 for out of state.No.3 ranked Cornell University’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management  costs $183,354 for in-state students compared to $270,748 for out-of-state.

Perhaps the best value for a quality business degree can be nabbed by students living in North Carolina. The Kenan-Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is ranked No. 8 overall in our 2026 ranking, but in-state students will pay just under $36,600 on a four-year undergraduate degree. Compare that to the $164,810 estimated total for out-of-state students.

With estimated other expenses – including housing, food, transportation and more – the degree will cost just over $100K for North Carolina students. It’s the lowest estimated cost of the Top 30 ranked schools on our ranking.

The table below shows the schools with the biggest savings for in-state students versus those coming from outside state borders. Totals are based on four years’ worth of tuition and fees.
