At This Leading U.S B-School, A Landmark Gift For Scholarships

Ideavillage, a brand marketing company founded by Stern alumnus Anand (Andy) Khubani (BS ‘89), has pledged a landmark gift for NYU Stern’s Business, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (BTE) program. The gift will support 40 scholarships across all four years of the program. The program will also be renamed the Khubani BTE Program.

“I’ve always been extremely passionate about the integration of business, life, and continuous learning,” says Khubani in a press release. “Throughout my journey, I’ve had the extraordinary privilege to learn from and collaborate with some of the most brilliant minds in the business world. This invaluable experience has been a fundamental pillar in achieving everything I hoped to in business and in life.”

Stern created the STEM-certified BTE in 2021, then a first-of-its-kind undergraduate business program integrating business, technology and entrepreneurship in one four-year degree. The four-year degree merges liberal arts, business and tech fundamentals, social impact learning, and entrepreneurship immersion. Students advance through the program as a cohort, taking experiential courses in entrepreneurship and technology. One such course is the BTE Design Sprint, a weeklong immersion in which students apply design thinking to challenges faced by real NYC startups.

“As someone who has experienced great success in his pursuit of the ‘American dream,’ Andy is an inspiration for Stern undergraduate business students. A master marketer and visionary entrepreneur, he is known for identifying consumer trends early and launching first to market innovative product solutions,” says Raghu Sundaram, dean of NYU Stern.

“We are deeply grateful for his extraordinary generosity and commitment to his alma mater. As one of the most successful entrepreneurs to graduate from the Stern School, we are honored that this program will bear his name.”

Georgetown McDonough’s Class of 2022 Grads Mark Record-Breaking Salaries

Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business has created the Kosoy Women in Business Program for undergraduate business majors. The program is named for Brian and Andrea Kosoy, parents of a McDonough undergrad.

The cohort-based program will provide tailored programming in mentorship and professional development including career-oriented workshops, speaker events, and networking initiatives throughout the upcoming semester. It is open to students of all genders.

“We think it is important that women have access to unique and targeted resources as they strive to reach their full potential and ultimately shape the organizations they are affiliated with and the business world as a whole,” the Kosoys say in an announcement.

The incoming class of McDonough undergrads is 41% women. The pilot program is part of a community-wide initiative at McDonough to increase the representation of women in business and leadership.

Oxford University’s Saïd Business School has partnered with Burjeel Holdings to launch Future Climate Innovators Summer School, a new program for 16 to 18 year olds passionate about tackling climate change.

Limited scholarships are available for the two-week program.

The announcement follows the hottest year ever recorded as well as the inaugural Burjeel Holdings-Oxford Saïd Climate Change Challenge. In the challenge, student teams across the shared their ideas for addressing the climate crisis. The three winning teams – from India, Indonesia, the UAE, South Korea, and the United States – will attend the course in Oxford as part of their prize.

“Climate change is the greatest threat to humanity. There has never been a more urgent time to inspire and mobilize the next generation of leaders, change makers and innovators. I look forward to welcoming them to our school this summer,” says Soumitra Dutta, dean of Oxford Saïd.

The summer program starts on August 18 and is accepting applications from students ages 16 to 18 from around the world. It is part of an ongoing strategic partnership between Burjeel Holdings and Oxford Saïd to inspire and empower the next generation of climate change leaders. It follows the announcement of winners of the Burjeel Holdings-Oxford Saïd Climate Change Challenge at COP28 in Dubai.

Wharton professor Kevin Werbach has launched a new podcast about AI’s near-term risk and deploying it responsibility. The first episode of “The Road to Accountable AI” premiered April 18 with new episodes releasing weekly.

Werbach is the Liem Sioe Liong/First Pacific Company Professor and Chair of the Department of Legal Studies and Business Ethics at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has more than 30 years experience analyzing emerging technologies through an ethical lens.

“AI is getting real, and so are AI ethics and regulation,” says Werbach. “Governments around the world are considering AI legislation, and companies are being pushed to implement AI governance. Fortunately, there is now a growing field of AI accountability, which the guests on my podcast are leading the way in developing.”

The podcast will feature interviews with top responsible AI executives, technology experts, AI ethics and legal advisors as well as influential policy-makers.
