Remote Workers Earn $27,000 More Than Those In-Office

There has been a recent push to return to the office for workers across the U.S. If you’re contemplating what’s best for you – working from a physical office, or working remotely – you may want to consider the following new research.

Fullstack Academy analyzed the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey, and they learned that remote workers are making an average of $27,000 more yearly than their office-bound counterparts. That’s an average of $82,000 versus $55,000, which can be life-changing.

MILLENNIALS AND WOMEN LEAD REMOTE WORK TRENDS

Of the working generations, millennials are leading the charge for the most remote workers. About 15% of all working millennials work from home currently. Women are also more likely than men to work from home, with 15% of working women doing so compared to 10% of working men. This could be because women are more likely to seek flexible arrangements to balance their professional and personal lives.

Fullstack Academy also found web developers, writers and authors, and travel agents as the most likely positions to work from home

Web Developers: 57% work from home
Writers and Authors: 54% work from home
Travel Agents: 53% work from home

When it comes to the geographic locations with the highest numbers of remote workers, Washington, Virginia, and Washington D.C are leading the way
