Who is your favorite business professor? Ramon Mendez has been my absolute favorite professor because he has transformed the way I understand business education. His classes were practical, structured, and deeply connected to real-world challenges. He fostered a dynamic environment where creativity was not optional but rather expected. More than teaching theory, he taught us how to think strategically, communicate clearly, and challenge assumptions. His mentorship significantly shaped my academic and professional path.

What advice would you give to a student looking to major in a business-related field? Make the most out of every experience. Say yes to opportunities and get involved early. Don’t just attend classes: actually apply what you learn every day. Business rewards initiative and curiosity.

Looking back over your experience, what is the one thing you’d do differently in business school and why? I would have intentionally embraced the areas where I felt weakest earlier on. During my first years, I leaned into my strengths. In hindsight, I would have challenged myself more in uncomfortable subjects to accelerate growth and become more well-rounded.

What is one way that your business school has integrated AI into your programming? What is one insight you gained from using AI? AI integration is embedded throughout IE’s curriculum, particularly in Business-Driven Information Technologies. We learned not only how AI works, but how to strategically implement it in business processes. My biggest insight from it: AI is not optional. You either adopt it strategically and amplify your work or you fall behind. The differentiator is not using AI but knowing how to ask better questions and interpret its outputs critically.

Which academic, extracurricular or personal achievement are you most proud of? Leading the IE Marketing Club to organize three consecutive IE Marketing Days. From first-year officer to President, I witnessed and helped drive the club’s transformation. Coordinating a cross-campus team of 16, hosting 1,000+ attendees every year for the marketing day, and collaborating with global brands taught me leadership under pressure, strategic planning, and resilience. More than the event itself, I am proud of the team culture we built, which is ambitious, collaborative, and constantly improving.

Which classmate do you most admire? A classmate I admire profoundly is Valeria Herrera. She taught me the power of positivity combined with competence. She exemplifies what it means to be a great teammate. She never fails to be supportive, proactive, and genuinely invested in others’ success. Her ability to build strong relationships while delivering high-quality work showed me that kindness and excellence are not mutually exclusive, quite on the contrary, they amplify each other.

Who would you most want to thank for your success? My parents. They gave me the opportunity to study +10.000 kilometers away from home, supporting me both economically and emotionally while I pursued my education abroad. They pushed me outside my comfort zone, trusted me with independence, and provided the values and tools that allowed me to succeed. Every achievement I celebrate is rooted in their sacrifice and belief in me.

What are the top two items on your professional bucket list?

  1. To build an international career that allows me to travel and create impact across markets and cultures.
  2. Never stop learning, both professionally and personally. Continuous growth is my long-term ambition.

What made Lucia such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2026?

“Lucia has been a truly invaluable member of the Class of 2026, not only for what she has achieved, but for the way she shows up every day. Throughout her time at IE, she has been deeply committed to her community, serving as class representative for three consecutive years and always standing up for her peers with clarity, respect, and empathy. Her involvement went beyond representation, as she actively participated in student clubs and took on the responsibility of President of the IE Marketing Club in her final year.

What truly sets Lucia apart is her positive attitude and professionalism. She approaches challenges with optimism, motivates those around her, and creates a supportive environment wherever she is involved. Her academic excellence, recognized through the Honors Program and the Blue Torch, reflects her dedication and work ethic. Lucia is the kind of student who leaves a lasting impression—through her leadership, integrity, and genuine care for others.”
