As a Christian liberal arts university, Lipscomb places heavy emphasis on integrating faith and business, pairing that mission with a growing focus on analytics, entrepreneurship, and career preparation.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND BUSINESS

The Lipscomb education centers around integrating faith into the real world of business. All Lipscomb business students are required to take Business Values, which explores ethical understanding and reasoning in a socially responsible manner from a Christian perspective. The school also places a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship through its Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Kittrell Pitch Competition.

The program also ensures data analytics proficiency, incorporating an integrated data analytics minor into all business majors. Students benefit from a Financial Markets Lab equipped with Bloomberg Terminals, providing hands-on experience in finance and investment analysis. Lipscomb now offers B.B.A. programs in accounting, finance, management, entrepreneurship, and marketing, along with B.S. programs in data analytics and data science housed in the College of Business.

Business Values, analytics coursework, and experiential learning remain central to the curriculum. In the entrepreneurship curriculum, for example, students take courses including Business Values, Data Driven Decision Making, and Visual Analytics and Enterprise Systems, while the broader College of Business emphasizes rigorous preparation at the intersection of strategy, ethics, and technology.

They place a strong emphasis on the real-world of business. With analytics embedded across the curriculum, strong internship outcomes, and a faith-centered approach to leadership, Lipscomb aims to ensure students graduate with both practical experience and a clear ethical compass.

One of the signature opportunities available to Lipscomb students is the annual Kittrell Pitch Competition, which challenges students to pitch a business idea for a product or service to a panel of professionals. The fall competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students from any major, with the first-place winner receiving $2,500, while the spring competition offers up to $10,000 for the winning team.

FINANCIAL MARKETS LAB

Lipscomb is constantly looking for ways to provide innovative and cutting-edge resources for its students. The Financial Markets Lab offers hands-on access to Bloomberg Terminals and supports real-world market analysis, investment research, and portfolio work.

Lipscomb has also expanded its business-and-technology ecosystem through the School of Data Analytics and Technology, which is housed in the College of Business. Recent student-facing resources and opportunities include Aspire Fellows, a special honors experience for juniors with a 3.5 GPA or above, the Content Creation Studio for podcasts, presentations, and digital media, and dedicated College of Business career support. Lipscomb also reports three semester-abroad opportunities and two business-specific travel offerings, including one through Aspire and another through a Business as Mission trip to Kenya.

ALUMNI SAY

“At the end of my school year, I had the opportunity to work on a project with some of peers in the supply chain class. This project helped to understand the importance of supply chain management. Being able to monitor the status and location of shipments in real-time is a fundamental capability in modern supply chain operations. This visibility allows companies to proactively address any delays or issues, improve delivery times, and keep customers informed. Implementing technology to better track and optimize the supply chain can lead to significant cost savings.”

“I was assigned group projects in almost every junior and senior level business class. We did a lot of problem identifying and solving. Aesthetic and well-prepared presentations were required for a good grade. Most professors required more active work than sitting and listening to lectures.”

“We were paired with three to four students domestically and internationally to collaborate on a project together for an International Business course. One of my group mates attended college at Texas A&M, the other two were from other countries. This was one of the most unique assignments I had while in school and taught me how to effectively communicate and schedule meetings with those not in the same time zone as me.”

“The equality speaks for itself. Lipscomb is among the best Christian universities in the country. I love the fact that while you’re equipping yourself for the future, you’re also growing spiritually. Not a lot schools have that capacity to offer such remarkable journey to their students.”

“I loved my experience in Lipscomb’s College of Business. It was easy to get involved in extra curriculars. Some courses were easy and some were difficult – it balanced out well. Most didn’t know what they were doing with academic advising, but career advising was spot on. The College of Business Career Development Center was phenomenal. You couldn’t graduate without a well-rounded experience in technical classes and soft skill classes.”
