Everything AI At Wharton
AI is shaping the future at Wharton. A few months ago, Wharton announced a new AI-focused strategy to prepare students in all fields to interact with and use AI, coined the Wharton AI and Analytics Initiative.
Part of the new initiative includes a partnership with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT and two new funds for AI education – the AI Research Fund and the Education Innovation Fund.
“ALL IN FOR EVERYTHING AI”
Eric Bradlow, Vice Dean for AI and analytics at Wharton told Technical.ly, “We’re all in [for] everything around artificial intelligence and data science.”
This is a strategic move seeing as much of the workforce already uses AI and it looks like it’s here to stay.
GMAC shows that 74% of employers said they believe AI and machine learning are important skills for business school graduates to have. In contrast, 35% of students say they’ve already embraced AI, using it for academic purposes, including studying, taking notes, writing essays and studying languages according to Inside Higher Ed.
EMBRACING AI FOR THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS
“We knew that AI was going to be a big part of what businesses were doing going forward,” Bradlow tells Technical.ly. “We’ve been doing work on video data, text data and other forms of what we call non-numeric data for a long time here at the Wharton School.”
The larger Penn university offers undergraduate AI degree and an online AI master’s degree in their School of Engineering and Applied Science, and Wharton has added a new conference and a free webinar series called AI Horizons.
In the near future, Wharton also plans to launch an “Everything you need to know about AI” course this 2024-2025 school year.
