2021 Report Card: How Alums Grade Their B-School Experience

Would you recommend your business program to a close friend or colleague interested in an undergraduate business degree?

It’s the ultimate net promoter question. And we believe it’s one of the most important questions on the survey, which is why we put it first. Overall, would you recommend your business program to a close friend or colleague? In the days of crowd-sourced reviews, it’s pertinent and an easy way to decipher which schools are having satisfied customers — and which schools are not. These days, a purchase is rarely made — be it a bowl of pho or new car — without at least some consideration of customer reviews.

So which school had the most satisfied 2018 graduates? That would be the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce, which earned an average of 9.79. The average is down from last year’s leader, Lipscomb University, which had 9.93. It’s also lower than 2019 and 2018’s high scores, which Boston College’s 9.91 and Indiana Kelley’s 9.87. It’s the lowest top-average we’ve seen in the five-year history of these rankings. Still, across all schools, the number is incredibly high at 9.12. Even so, however, that is quite a drop from the previous three years when the averages were 9.31, 9.33, and 9.31, respectively.
